Music at the Mission's Student Festival is a chamber music program designed for gifted young musicians seeking artistic development through an intensive exploration of chamber music repertoire.  Through this program, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers from around the San Francisco Bay Area in small chamber ensembles coached by a faculty of professional and critically acclaimed musicians.

Students are selected by faculty members, and are expected to audition with one solo piece, as well as two contrasting movements from a pre-chosen repertoire list for Music at the Mission's "ChamberFest Week" concerts.  They will be grouped into ensembles with their peers according to level of playing and experience.

In March, chamber groups will participate in "Mentor Weekend", receive guidance in sight-reading and ear training techniques, as well as rehearsal and collaboration strategies with their peers.  The special weekend will begin with an open rehearsal of professional artists and will include a free ticket to the performance on the night of the 15th at Old Mission San Jose. During the July "ChamberFest Wee", students will be involved in a week of intense coachings and masterclasses which will culminate in a performance at Old Mission San Jose showcasing the talents and dedicated work of the festival's chamber ensembles.  Classes and masterclasses will take place at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Music School near Old Mission San Jose: 43326 Mission Blvd. in Fremont. The final concert will take place at Old Mission San Jose.
