Tohoku trip to visit children's shelters

October, 2012
Ichinoseki Fujinosono children's shelter in Ichinoseki, Japan

Back in the Bay Area after an amazing experience meeting some fascinating people doing extraordinary work in Japan such as Christa Mauer, the director of Ichinoseki Fujinosono Children's Shelter in Ichinoseki, Iwate-ken, Japan. After their shelter was ruined by the earthquake and tsunami, she and her staff made plans to build a brand new shelter, found sponsors, raised money, and they have broken ground with the anticipation of opening in June of 2013. Not only that, after the shelter is completed, it will be the most "eco" friendly and "disaster" friendly building in Japan. Looks like I'll have to make a trip back to see the building.

We will be posting images from my trip.

July 27, 2012, Thank you for efforts above and beyond
There were many, many great folks that helped out on our fundraising event and I hope to be able to thank everyone personally. Recently, a volunteer went above and beyond the call of duty to transport the three sets of 1000 Cranes to the orphanage in Japan. I would like to thank Mr. Ichiro Onishi for helping out at the last minute. Domo arigato gozaimasu.
